CPS NEW CHALLENGES FOR THE YEAR 2008.
During the year 2007, our society has grown in number of members and activities. Beginning in November 2006 with nine (09) funding members from universities of Yaounde I, Douala, Ngaoundéré and Dschang, the number has increased with a rate of more that 70% so that we are now more than 70 members.
As the activities are concerned, CPS is now recognized by the State of Cameroon thanks to the efforts of the members of the executive bureau. All the Cameroonian physicists are aware of the existence of our society thanks to the efforts of the coordinators of CPS in various universities.

Time has now come to go further.  This is why the society is engaged in five actions for the year 2008:
1) Organization of our CPS meeting scheduled in April 2008.
The meeting will be the place for all the members of the CPS to present Physics activities in Cameroon, share their views on using physics to solve real-life problems encountered by Cameroonian populations and decide on the activities to be undertaken during the next three years. Among those activities, there is a need to define strategies that will lead to the funding of our activities and schedule our national and international scientific meetings.
2) Organization of CPS conferences.
CPS must act through the country with conferences on special problems in physical sciences. The conferences will take place over the year in the five universities of Cameroon..
3) Affiliation to IUPAP.
The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics is ready to consider our application for membership.
4) Organization of an international conference on the topic “Low cost high physics and appropriate solutions to real life problems in developing countries”.
Indeed, an important problem faced by Cameroonian physicists is that their activities (in research groups and conferences) have no links with the developmental goals of their country. Those tackling some problems related to some local developmental goals will not succeed in publishing their results in good scientific journals and they need publications for their academic promotion. The conference will be the place to point out research topics with the following criteria: cheep equipment and low investment, high quality topics to merit publication in international journals and topics based on real-life problems faced by Cameroonian people. We now this is a big challenge.
5) Web site
The web site has been very static during the year 2007. Since it is our portal to the World, there is a necessity to render our web site more dynamical than before. In this line, all the interesting information on members, new papers published by Cameroonian physicists as well as schools and conferences on physics and related fields organized in Cameroon will appear regularly in our web site. Moreover, our website will be the place to present the evolution of the activities as indicated here before..
